Abstract

The purpose of the article is defined as the study of the policy of memory as a resource for the development of civil identity and positive images of the future of the country in the consciousness of the youth of the South of Russia, using the two most important geo-strategic zones – Krasnodar Territory and the Republic of Crimea. The empirical basis of the research is the results of focus group discussions held in Krasnodar Krai (2 groups) and the Republic of Crimea (2 groups), in which representatives of students and working youth participated. The results of the study demonstrate the need to implement the policy of memory as an independent State policy and not as fragments of individual normative acts. The Internet is the dominant source of information for today’s youth, which means that public policies guidance on memory should be broadcast primarily through this channel. The most powerful integration and mobilization potential is the historical theme of the Great Patriotic War. At present, the development of civic identity of today’s youth is lagging behind, including the absence of a policy of memory as a coherent system of public administration. Perceptions of Russia’s future depend on age: young people born in the 1990s see the future of our country more pessimistically than those born in the 2000s.
